Are Fruit smoothies good for weight loss?

Fruit smoothies are not necessarily good for weight loss. While they are an easy and delicious way to get a serving of fruit into your daily diet, they can be pretty heavy on sugar (from the fruit) and also calorie dense (from things like milk.

However, that does not mean that eating fruit smoothies is going to make you pack on the pounds. Like anything, just be aware of them in relation to the other foods you are eating and they can certainly be part of a healthy diet.

What can I put in a smoothie to thicken it?/ How do I make my smoothie thicker?

If you want to make a thicker smoothie there are a few things you can do. First, instead of using a liquid like milk, you can use something heavier like yogurt.

Another thing you can do to make your smoothies thicker is to use heavier fruits like bananas or frozen fruits.

Do you put ice in smoothies

Yes, you certainly can put ice in smoothies. It helps to add a little bulk and texture to the finished smoothie. However, you don’t HAVE to use ice to make smoothies (especially if you are already using frozen fruit).

If you con’t use ice to make your fruit smoothie, then you will likely need to use something like yogurt or milk.

Do you have to use frozen fruit for smoothies?

You definitely do not have to use frozen fruit for smoothies. I prefer frozen fruit because it is easier to grab and use. Frozen fruit also helps make a thicker smoothie.

And also, using frozen fruit allows me to stockpile fruit when it is cheapest during the year and freeze it. Freezing blueberries and other fruits is super easy and totally worth it for the savings! We actually also freeze milk from our goats so we always have a supply of that to use as well.

Are fruit smoothies good for you?

Fruit smoothies can definitely be good for you! They are a fun, easy and delicious way to get in several servings of fruit into your daily nutrition.

But, like any other nutrient or food, you should be sure to eat them in moderation. Fruit in general is high sugar content and fruit smoothies especially when adding milk or yogurt can be kind of heavy on calories.
